“Five Story Lines of Scripture” Teaching DVD
Announcing our first DVD that shows Preserving Bible Times (PBT) in action teaching aspects of biblical context. All of our previous DVDs shared PBT’s remarkable Holy Land photographic and video resources for understanding the Bible in its context. With this new teaching DVD, we can now share some of how we use these resources to also open up the Bible in fresh and news ways. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then this DVD should be worth at least 10,000 words of communicating what we do at PBT, why we do it that way, while showing some of how we actually go about it.
Filmed at the 2006 Teaching Director’s Conference of Community Bible Study, this DVD develops what we think is an essential framework for understanding the Bible in its context. We call it The Five Story Lines of Scripture, which some prefer to call The REALLY Big Picture of Scripture.
In addition, for the first 25 minutes of this DVD, we also demonstrate why context matters when engaging the Scriptures by revisiting three “familiar” passages. In each of these well-known texts – The Last Words of Jesus, Matthew 27:46; Simon Encounters Jesus, Luke 5:1-11; and Lifting Up the Vine, John 15:2 - we develop the crucial pieces of context inherent in each passage, and then show why there is so much more yet to be discovered in each of these passages. These three contextual “nuggets,” plus the “Five Story Lines of Scripture” framework, also serve to show some of what we do in our exciting and transforming Bible Alive weekends.
