Doug Greenwold’s Seminal Works
Doug Greenwold was among those who set the standard and crafted the manner by which the context of Scripture could best be taught. Doug’s approach was not that of a preacher but of a scholar with his feet on the ground, exploring the mindset of the first-century-agrarian-Hebrew-villager. He adds nothing to the text of the Bible that hasn’t been there from its inception but insightfully reveals what had lurked between the lines all along.
As he often reminded us, the teaching of context invites opposition. All too often people learn things that seem to overthrow their earliest, most comfortable convictions about what the Bible has to say, though, upon reflection, they often come to understand how Doug’s teaching enlarges and sharpens the message of the original text, exposing how the intended, original audience would have received it. Now available in eBook form only (PDF) and displayed below, these books should be in the library of every serious student of the Bible.
