Can you recall your initial reaction to first hearing the phrase “the land of milk and honey” (Exodus 3:8)? What might that have initially evoked in your mind – a miniature Garden of Eden, a fabulous oasis? As regards Israel, nothing could be further from the truth! This video Reflection contextually digs into this “land of milk and honey” phrase. It starts by progressively visiting this land from the north, then traveling to the central part of this country (Samaria) and ends by visiting Beersheba in the Northern Negev.
What we surprisingly discover is that this ancient phrase comes with an embedded challenge for how we live today, which makes it very contemporary. See if you agree as Doug teaches in this excerpt from the 2018 Institute of Biblical Context Annual Summer Conference on “Shepherds, Flocks and Kings”!
