In I Samuel 16, God directs Samuel to anoint David to be the future king of Israel. If we had been David and God had given us a preview into what the next ten years would bring, our reaction might have been: “That’s not an appropriate career development plan for a king! Unfortunately, most of us have either a flawed or an incomplete view of God.
